Our Scarecrow Contest is now open! The deadline to enter is September 18, 2025, or until we reach 25 entries—whichever comes first. This contest is limited to the first 25 entries and there is no entry fee.
🏆 Prizes
• First Place: $200
• Second Place: $150
• Third Place: $100
Winners will be announced on Oct 28, 2025. Participants do not need to be present to win.
🗳 Judging
Scarecrows will be displayed along our hayride route, and guests will vote using ballots handed out during the ride.
🚫 Restrictions
Sweet Thistle Farms reserves the right to refuse entries that are not appropriate for all age groups.
📍 Delivery, Set-Up & Removal
• Set-Up Day: Friday, October 3, 2025 (12-6 PM) Saturday, October 4, 2025 (8-9:30 AM)
• Sweet Thistle Farms will provide a 5 ft. metal post for attaching your scarecrow. Entrants must bring their own method of attachment (we recommend sliding a 2” PVC pipe through the center of your scarecrow body).
• Pick-Up: All scarecrows must be collected between October 28-31, 2025. Any scarecrows left behind may be discarded.
🌦 Materials Reminder
Scarecrows will be outside until October 31, 2025, and will face wind, rain, and weather. Please keep this in mind when designing.

Sweet Thistle Farms will not be held responsible for any injury, damage, or lost items related to the 2025 Scarecrow Contest. Entrants are responsible for retrieving their scarecrows during the designated pick-up period. By entering, participants grant Sweet Thistle Farms permission to use photos, videos, and stories of entries for publicity and promotion. Employees, family members, affiliates, vendors, or advertising representatives of Sweet Thistle Farms are not eligible to compete.
